Suggested for this Experiment
- Circle, CC Griddler, CC Mr. Mercury, CC Color Offset, Brush Strokes, Unsharp Mask
For Experiment 9 I combined the Circle effect with CC Griddler, CC Mr Mercury, CC Color Offset, Brush Strokes and Unsharp Mask, for a result which is surprisingly flower-like. On first inspection Mr Mercury appears to be a one-trick pony, but explore the parameters and you may be surprised. Brush Strokes may also seem a bit cheesy but even the cheesiest effects can look good if you’re not heavy handed. I used Brush Strokes to add subtle mottling and irregularity to the colour.
What can you make? Use only the above effects applied to a Solid Layer and don’t use the Brainstorm Tool! I used two Solids, one for the main part of the flower and one to add the detail into the centre. Take at least 30 minutes to explore the effects and post a JPG (under 200K) in the comments.

Nice Umair, it’s got a volcanic look to it.
“I Will Fight No More Forever”
Good effort Jim, you’ve really been consistent with these experiments!
That’s a nice way to put it : )
Hey, I’ve been digging deep into MIR and couldn’t understand why my edges were so jagged and not in a cool way. Even after increasing multisample to 32. Turns out it has problems with some video cards with more than 2 gigs of Vram – so – this guy – Matt Servo – has the fix – http://www.trapcode.com/forum/post/2060974
Just fyi in case anyone comes to you with that problem.
Thanks for the info.
Hi.
i have tri to avoid the flower style 🙂
Good one Torus, I like the bright color with the fractured look.
Happy Chromatic Aberration Splash!
Crazy effect combination, John! Had a lot of fun!
Great job Irina, glad you like the combination!
another fun challenge
Great abstract look Nikc.
Finally got around to doing one of these since the first one where my AE project crashed.
This is quite dark Paul, what is the look you were going for?
There were so many random things that this one spit out. I felt like I was being evaluated by a Psychologist… “And what do you see now…” A rooster.
Here is my shot!
Well done Steven, the scan line effect really sells this look.
First upload here. Kind of looks like a Spaghetti Western Sunset.
Digging this Anthony, it really does like some kind of hazy sunset.
Need to get quicker at this! Fun little experiment though.
Nice one Paul!
Hidee-ho! Used all the effects, but also tried to keep it clean and simple.. I calle this one “Argyle Dress” #Fashionista
Amazing how different it looks to some of the others!
hmm – not happy with this one…
Not bad! Kind of a sci-fi feel.
First experiment… Happy with this one!
Great look Richard!
Love this look! Tempted to ask for the project file to experiment with it further…
First one out of the gates. I thought it was fun! Thanks for such a fun experiment!

Interesting Markus, kind of looks like paper.
Was actually trying to fool around and figure out some of the frames above, but somewhow ended here 🙂 Much fun, thanks John!
That’s the joy of experimenting right there Charl. Yours has a retro video game look to it.
Had a blast fiddling through all the settings! I have a retro-ish looking.. uh.. stuff. 🙂
Retro stuff is a good way to describe it Deo, great effort.
This was great fun to make.
Tried this experiment a few times before landing on this.
i do this ,could share your parameter?
Patchwork Teddy in a badly fitting purple suit
Creepy!
Trying to get the hang of per-effect mask and opacity features with this one
Both those new features are so useful!
