Great interview. I’m glad to see they didn’t get out of the game. Hearing the rumors of 3D text in CS6 I waited on upgrading to the lastest version of Pro Animator. After trying out the new AE6 3D features, and not having an accelerated CUDA card, I decided to upgrade to the latest version as there’s still way more features in Pro Animator as well as an incredible speed difference. I think for a lot of AE users, we use Cinema 4D or another 3d package as a crutch for 3D text, but I love having the edit-ability right inside of AE. Excited to see the upcoming V6.

Thanks for your input Ryan, I figured plenty of users would be wondering what Zaxwerks’ next step would be. Best, John.

Nice interview John… I was out at NAB and spoke with Zax and his team… excited to see version 6 on the near horizon. I just upgraded to Adobe CS6, but haven’t had a chance to try out the 3D yet. I don’t have a CUDA card, so I know there will probably be a huge performance hit for me with the hardware that I presently work with.
Like almost everyone else, I have projects to get out the door, and not a huge amount of free time to check out new features. I know what workflows work for me, and one of the pieces of software that I work with all the time for the level of 3D that I need is Zaxwerk Invigorator. I had a copy of Cinema 4D, but like I just said, I have not have tons of free time to learn the software well enough to not have to think about it when approaching a project. I know with Invigorator, I can do (most) of what I want to do without thinking about the process. The addition of ray-tracing and refractions, etc. will really make some of my animations “sing!”
