Turbulent Noise is one of the most versatile effects in After Effects. Using it again recently to create the human iris reminded me that it’s an important effect to know, so for Experiment 7 we’re going to focus on Turbulent Noise with CC Toner for colorisation.
Turbulent Noise was introduced in After Effects CS4 and is a higher quality replacement for Fractal Noise. Both effects are great for natural, organic effects such as smoke, fire and any number of graphical elements and backgrounds. Here’s my experiment and my settings. I used one main version of Turbulent noise for the blocks and two duplicates to add the finer texture. What can you make?
Remember the guidelines: Use Turbulent Noise and CC Toner applied to a single Solid Layer and don’t use the Brainstorm Tool! Take at least 30 minutes to explore the effects and post a JPG (under 200K) in the comments.
