Ae Experiment 6

Suggested for this Experiment
  • Advanced Lightning
  • CC Vector Blur
  • Mirror
  • Curves

If you’ve been keeping up with all the experiments well done! For Experiment 6 we’re using Advanced Lightning, CC Vector Blur and Mirror. A little Curves is also okay if you need it! Take a look at my experiment and you’ll see that Advanced Lightning can be used for more than just lightning.

After 20 minutes I pretty much had nothing but then the look of fire started to present itself, so for the remaining 10 minutes I zeroed in on a fire theme. I ended up with something that looks like stylised flames reflected in water. The water could use some ripple and diffusion but the point is that I was taken in an unexpected direction, and this got me thinking about these effects differently.

What can you make?  Use only those effects applied to a single Solid Layer and don’t use the Brainstorm Tool! Take 30 minutes to explore the effects and post a JPG in the comments.

2 x Adv Lightning; 1 x CC Vector Blur; 2 x Mirror. Interesting. As usual, makes me look a lot closer at the settings of what seem to be fairly straightforward effects. Thanks.

To you bruh – to you. Thanks for the specs. P.S if you animate the brightness of the glow color you can get it to kind of beat. Carry on.

Here’s my results. I used advanced lightning, vector blur and two copies of mirror. Never would have thought you could build such a cool background with these filters.

Seven instances of CC Lightning apiece on three different layers. Each layers uses a different glow color for the lightning, a slightly different rotation, and various blending modes. A fourth layer on top uses the same pattern with a vector blur based on lightness to produce a black and white image. The top image is the blended with rest using luminosity.

Could have rolled on for another 30 minutes with even more experimentation. Nice excercise.
