Unbelievable! I can’t wait!
More questions though:
Would a 3D “floor” provide reflections of “regular” 3D layers (postcards)?
Would a new 3D layer project 3D shadows onto a ‘postcard’ layer?
Could we use an Environment Layer the same way we’d use Trapcode Horizon?
If we collapse transformations on a precomp with the new 3D will it ‘unfold’ and behave as we’d expect it to?

Would a 3D “œfloor” provide reflections of “œregular” 3D layers (postcards)?
—– Yes.
Would a new 3D layer project 3D shadows onto a “˜postcard’ layer?
—— Yes, as long as that layer is 3D of course.
Could we use an Environment Layer the same way we’d use Trapcode Horizon?
—– It’s fundamentally the same thing as far as I’m aware.
If we collapse transformations on a precomp with the new 3D will it “˜unfold’ and behave as we’d expect it to?
—– Collapsing works the same way as it does in CS5.5. If you set up your 3D in one comp, precompose and collapse, then add your cameras, lights in the main comp, they will be recognised by the collapsed layers.

(how) would the Raytracing and other advanced 3D effects work on non Quadro nVidia or AMD cards?
May 13, 2012 at 7:50 am |
Hi Frank,
You really need an approved nVidia card to get the most out of CS6. Other cards won’t do the job.

Hi Ginz,
I’m not sure, I haven’t tried yet.

Dear John, this effect – RayTrace 3D – in AeCs6 is no where close to ZaxWerks ProAnimator, at least I don’t have to buy a new Video card to my machine with Zax.
Thank you for your great work and info

in C4D – as you know – you can add an environment (Sky with HDR ), add to it compositing tag and hide it from the camera , ,
can it be done in AE ?
get the reflection from an environment layer and not to see it in the comp !
- by the way I used an HDR picture as an environment in AE and it works fine – which I did not try before.
Thanks mate
